How it works

The Exoroach™ Trap offers a simple chemical free catching mechanism. Placed near to where cockroaches have been seen, the insects will encounter the Exoroach™ as they follow their normal foraging activity looking for food and harborage sites, particularly at night. Sensing the food lure tablet provided, they will be attracted into the trap. On entering, they climb up the ramp onto the specially designed bridge treated with Entostat™TM powder. The particles of Entostat™ cling to the cockroach feet and tarsal segments, preventing them from maintaining a strong grip and causing them to fall onto the glue board below from which they cannot escape.

Compared with smaller cardboard traps, the large and robust size of Exoroach™ (39 cm long x 22 cm wide x 6.5 cm tall) gives the ideal proportions to catch and retain a greater number of cockroaches between inspections. The Exoroach™ Trap will provide many months of use if the glue boards, lure tablet and bridge are regularly replaced. (see out service kit)

Optimum Cockroach Control

Cockroaches are very closely associated with human habitation. As they commonly feed on decaying food and live in unsanitary areas such as sewage systems, they present a considerable risk to health through the potential transmission of disease. Exoroach™ will provide maximum effect if used as part of an integrated pest management programme, which may include the use of insecticide baits, sprays and powders depending on the situation. However not all cockroaches will respond to treatment by chemicals.

Before using Exoroach™ , remove all potential food sources. Clean the area, especially all spillages and remove waste material. Block or seal any broken fixtures in which cockroaches may find a harborage. Cockroaches like warm dark locations. Place the Exoroach™ in these locations; where adults have been seen; along the edge of rooms and under furniture or equipment; or where there are signs of egg cases (oothecae). Check the Exoroach™ 24 hours after first placement and if no cockroaches are trapped move the Exoroach™ to an alternative location. Move the trap to several locations over a period of weeks to provide maximum trap catch. Over time the Exoroach™ becomes more attractive as trapped cockroaches leave aggregation pheromone inside the trap. The Exoroach™ will be more effective if left in place after a spray or chemical treatment. Do not treat the trap with pesticide.

What does Exoroach™catch?
Exoroach™ catches all major species of cockroach pests, including the German cockroach (Blatella germanica), the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana), the Austalian cockroach (Perplaneta australasiae) the Brownbanded cockroach (Supella longipalpa), the Asian cockroach (Blattella asahinai) and the Oriental cockroach (Blatta orientalis).

Why do I need to control roaches?
It has been shown that cockroaches are capable of carrying diseases such as dysentery and parasites. In a word, cockroaches are unhygienic. Equally, and if not more importantly, cockroaches produce large amounts of allergen in their skins and frass. This can invoke serious allergic reactions, particularly in children, causing asthma and eczema.

Why is the Exoroach™ so effective for catching cockroaches?
The Exoroach™ uses highly effective patented technology. The Exoroach™ contains a lure that roaches find irresistible. Roaches are drawn towards the scent and, when inside the Exoroach™ , pick up electrostatically charged particles which coat the sticky pads on their feet. These charged particles prevent the roaches from being able to grip and the insect falls onto a sticky gluebase where it is hygienically retained.

Can you see the captured roaches?
Exoroach™ retains roaches out of sight of guests and customers. If you wish to inspect how many roaches have been caught, the traps lid may simply be removed. Until then, the roaches are completely hidden.

For how long does the Exoroach™ remain effective?
The Exoroach™ is constructed from extremely durable materials that maybe reused time and time again. The Entostat™ bridge, sticky base and the lure have a life-span of up to 2-months, but would require replacement once the trap is full. Refill packs are available.

How many cockroaches can the Exoroach™ ™catch?
Obviously this depends on the species of cockroach being caught given that they are very different sizes. However, in trials carried out by the University of Southampton, UK. in an apartment in London, ca 5000 German cockroaches were retained in one single trap. It is estimated that the Exoroach™ could retain around 100 adult American cockroaches before needing a refill.

Why is the Exoroach™ better than the sticky boards that I have seen which claim to catch roaches?
The unique way in which the Exoroach™ catches cockroaches fills the sticky base from the center outwards. On ordinary sticky traps, insects are retained on the periphery of the sticky area. This is because roaches are reluctant to walk over others that have become trapped on the sticky surface. As a result of this avoidance behavior, large portions of the sticky base remain untouched. On the Exoroach™ sticky base, every piece of space is utilized to catch large numbers of cockroaches.

Does the Exoroach™ completely remove the need for chemical treatments?
In most cases the Exoroach™ will keep pest populations of cockroaches in check. However, in cases of severe infestation it may be necessary to continue chemical treatments but a much less frequent intervals.
When I took the bridge out of the bag containing the powder not much of it had stuck?
The bag must be thoroughly shaken for at least 10-seconds. This is a vital part of the trap assembly and ensures the powder is charged.

What should I do with the glue base when I want to change it?
Place the base in a sealed plastic bag and throw away as you would normal household waste. It requires no special treatment. WARNING, some people show allergic reactions when handling surfaces where cockroaches have had contact. We recommend the use of disposable plastic gloves and even a dust mask when servicing the Exoroach™ trap.

How much supervision does the trap require?
The trap will run unsupervised until full. We recommend checking the trap at least once per week until it can be established how serious the infestation is.
